To be completely honest you have no real need to use it. So long as you dont abuse your car or its burning oil or something. You should be fine. The evidence my friend will be on your spark plugs. They will give you the first hint that your combustion system is outta wack. Look their first before using any of those product.

Also use Shell Gas, the new nitrogen enriched process works to keep your valves clean. Using my limited science knowledge from the high school and university days. It may likely be the benefit that nitrogen is a rather fat element and the pinball effect during combustion may work to keep your combustion system clean.

For more information about Shell Gas, visit their website or tear thru the wiki about Vpower fuel.

Add a comment

Exciting news from Tein, they have finally tightened there game and introduced a Flex Coilover for their Mitsubishi Lancer/Ralliart product line.   The Lancer / Ralliart Aftermarket space for suspension will be heating up as Tier 1 companies such as Tein enter this space in a big way.

Tein traditionally only offered Tein Basics which got the job done, but still reused alot of OE hardware in the installation, and only offered ride height adjustment via the coilover springs.  Now, we have a much more versatile kit to work with.

Here is a rundown of the full specs and features.

TYPE FLEX

TYPE FLEX

TEIN has used its years of experience in various motor sports to produce a kit that provides the ultimate balance between comfort and performance. Developed for drivers seeking an aggressive coilover that can be used daily, and provide all the adjustments needed for circuit use. The FLEX damper Kit features the latest technology for all drivers who are seeking performance, and adjustability, while not giving up all ride comfort. We have incorporated separate spring perch height, and shell case length adjustment, which allows the suspension to retain more stroke and allows for more suspension tuning. The FLEX damper kit includes pillow ball upper mounts, which increase steering response; 16 levels of damping force adjustment, and is compatible with the EDFC (Electronic Damping Force Controller) for added convenience and adjustability.

Sprintbooster revisited and reviewed

If you haven’t heard about Sprintbooster, then there is something wrong with you.  If your on a local forum, regardless of what make or model.  You must have heard about sprintbooster at least once.  So what is it?

In a nutshell Sprintbooster can be described as the following.

“Sprint Booster is engineered to enhance the driving experience by providing improved acceleration by eliminating the delay inherent in drive-by-wire accelerator technology. This is accomplished by continuously measuring and converting the digital signal while providing the ECU (Electronic Control Module) with a new and altered signal for much quicker throttle response. The actual device contains electronic circuitry that is installed between the accelerator pedal and the ECU in vehicles equipped with electronic throttle control. Sprint Booster is an entirely new product that is environmentally correct. After installation there is absolutely no change in factory emissions and it is fully certified having obtained the demanding, German TUV approval for gas, diesel and hybrid vehicles.

Sprint Booster represents completely new technology, with no direct competitors. Enhances throttle response by increasing pedal input sensitivity, delivering more impressive off-the-line performance that drivers can genuinely feel. Installation is simple plug-n-play takes only a few minutes and rarely requires tools. Sprint Booster delivers instant response throughout the power band, making acceleration and merging with traffic a totally new and confidence inspiring experience. Shift points are redefined and maximized when paired with an automatic transmission. Standard, CVT and DSG transmission versions are also offered. Brand new for SEMA was a programmable version with Stage 1, Stage 2 and “Off” settings.

Johnston was careful to acknowledge that “while Sprint Booster won an award for ‘street performance’ it is the ability of Sprint Booster to eliminate throttle response delay that is consistently the most appreciated feature.”

Got all that?  Well if you didnt let me put it to you this way.  If you own a CVT Lancer, you know what I am talking about when I talk about the huge lag and lack of response when it comes to accelerating.  You give it gas, and the Lancer always under estimates the amount of throttle your demanding.  Its frustrating, you have to keep giving the car more and more and more gas before the frigging thing starts moving.  Why you ask?

When programing the CVT transmission Mitsubishi designed it to keep fuel economy at the top of the list of objectives.  Just short of 100% throttle, the CVT undermines you at almost every turn.  It just doesnt get it.  With sprintbooster in there.  Its like a constant kick in the pants telling the Lancer you want to go and not mess around.

Dont own a CVT lancer,  Maybe a Manual Lancer, or possible an SST equipped MR or Ralliart.  Same problem of throttle lag exists.  There is almost no way where you can hide from it.  Factory throttle programing has lag.  But dont take my word for it. Do a goggle search for yourself.  Sprintbooster is on just about every car, and of the people that try it,  almost 100% love it.  Mean while, the people who never try it seem to be the most skeptical.  I have to admit, I was a little unsure about trying it.  But once I did, this mod quickly rose on my list of most have mods.  I bought mine 2 years ago.  And I must say, if i had to do my mods all over again.  The Sprintbooster would probably be one of my first mods.  Hands down.  Before my exhaust upgrade or intake.  Its that good.  It drives like a totally different car.

The mod is so popular in the EVOSOUL circle of affiliates, almost every single one of us on the team have this mod.  Once you try it, you wont want to turn it off or take it off.  Effective later this month the EVOSOUL International group will likely distribute Sprintbooster as a vendor.

WHat is even better.  Sprintbooster has a 30 day trial policy.  You dont like it,  you return it.  and get your money back.  No BS. www.sprintboosterusa.com .  If you already have sprintbooster, make a comment on here.  Or on the forums.  I am curious to hear your feedback.  Just look at Move-Over’s review.

Read one of the reviews for the product right here.  If it makes sense to you Buy it.

Massive Salvo of Steel from DC Sports

One of my favorite (Post Engine) Exhaust related companies of all time is DC Sports.  They were one of the brands that works them selves up from the bottom and clawed their way to the top in terms of Quality, Form, and Function.  When DC Sports and AEM joined forces, in some ways it was the best of both worlds.  You had two companies commited to making the best stuff out there cranking out great hardware.  AEM on the Intake side of things, and DC Sports on the Exhaust.  Start to finish, you knew where to go to get the best hardware.  The problem for me back in the day was, they were centered around very few Car Manufacturers.   Predominantly HONDA.  Over the years they have diversified, but I waited along time for them to diversify enough to start up some serious Mitsubishi Projects.  When I made calls last year, I was told, its coming,,,,, its in development,,,,, Its in testing,,,,, Dude STOP CALLING HERE….  Around the time of the Sema show I called again and was told, finishing touches are in the works.   And I feel now is the time to celebrate.  Not only is DC sports coming to market with a great exhaust.  But they finally picked up the serious hammer and began forging a 4-1 header.  Something the Lancer market needs, more competition, more options for buyers.

Now in recent times, a few years ago AEM and DC Sports went their own ways and took what they learned from each other and continue to earn and keep their respective top dog status in their respective fields.  Specifically in this case, I am glad to see that DC Sports wasnt F*#$ing around, they grabbed the bull by the horns and said.  MAKE EVERYTHING.  If you study their 2010-2011 catalog.  (Thats right… they are even preparing for next years stuff.)  http://www.dcsports.com/catalogs.html

They have Intakes coming for the 2.0 and 2.4.
They have an Exhaust kit compatible for both applications.
They have a 4-1 Header coming.

All at the same time.  That to me is amazing.  It its certainly hardware I want to get my hands on to test and benchmark.  Keep an eye out for this stuff boys, its well worth it.

After looking high and low it seems like the boys at Auto Anything have the DC sports exhaust first and for a decent price in the low 300’s

A new found respect for Conti Extreme Contact DW tires.

Add a comment

I literally have just come home from a Conti DW and DWS evaluation day.  And I must say, I wasnt too sure about the DW tire, but after taking them to the brink and beyond, In some ways I am kinda regretting that I got the DWS vs. the DW.  Not to say that there is anything wrong with the DWS.  if anything they are the best for what my car is, A mitsubishi GTS Lancer.  Not a track car, but 99% a daily driver.   After getting a chance to drive multiple cars of different makes and power sets.  I must say.  I didnt think anything would surpass my experience with the DWS.

We were fortunate enough today to have weather that was around 6′C, with temps that low it became real easy to see what happens when the DW tire has the chance to warm up.  In the beginning both were about the same level of acceleration and braking = Excellent.  But as the DW tires warmed up, they started gripping the road like no other.  Seriously, I dont think I would have gotten the full grasp of what temps do and how the affect the nature of traction aka grip.

During the Briefing and Debriefings Conti Techs and Drivers worked hand in hand to explain how the specific technologies work on the tires.  I thought I was well versed on the DWS tire, but there was a thing or two I learned about how those tires are constructed that still managed to blow me away.  I think one of the crowning pieces of technology that Conti has put into their product is the  “chamfered edge” technology for dry performance.

Conti’s description

“This dry road surface technology generates greater acceleration grip, handling and braking traction in dry conditions. Solid outer shoulder and chamfered pattern edges concentrates on a maximum surface contact, resulting in increased traction.”

The logic is simple.  And the way it was demonstrated made sense.   Generally with an average tire, its made of straight cut 90 angle blocks.  once you push the tire beyond its limit those blocks buckle and somewhat distort or in some cases fold over.  Which takes away from the full road contact that is needed.  This conti Technology / Design, works to but into those 90 blocks and removes the harsh edges.  Replacing it with corners that work to add traction by better contouring to the road at extreme forces.

When I was thrashing thru the corners you could really get a feel for what they meant.  What i like is, they really took time to stop, talk to you, and make sure you fully wrap your head around what your going to do, whats happening, and what you did.  Whether you did good or bad.  They always had reinforcing feedback.  And the translate into understanding the product better.

If you want a good drive, and want to track your car still, go with the Conti DW, the tread life rating is 340 so I dont think it will burn off that fast at all.  and the cost of the DW is relatively low for what your getting.  If you want a very comfy ride, exceptional treadlife, and one of the best wet driving experiences for a All Season, stick with the DWS.  Both tires are winners.  Conti Design these two variants for very specific target groups.  One who wants all out performance in Dry and Wet aka the Track type of person.  And Someone who wants the best tire for all potential seasons.   A tire that truly lives up to its All Season classification. :)

I will share more pics later as I get the rest of my thoughts and pictures together.

Deal for Canadian’s - Conti DWS and DW tire buyers get $65 prepaid Visa

Add a comment

For years, guys in Canada (Toronto) have been driving south of the border to get a good deal on Rims and tires. Now that our dollar is getting stronger, there are more deals to be had.  One thing that makes it hard for people it ignore certain brand’s pricing is because of great rebate offers for buying here at home.  Conti has come up with one and its pretty attractive.

65 bucks spending money on a visa sound pretty good.  For more details read the rules and regs from the Conti website.

To make things even sweeter, Tiremag, has extended an offer to our Local Toronto Lancer Car club and gotten an amazing installed deal on the Conti DWS tire.
