Auto Enginuity Revisited
A while back I blogged about a scan tool called Auto Enginuity.

I also remember mentioning that this should be the very first mod / hardware anyone should get before they get into playing with their car. Why? Car now a days are just sooooooo complicated, so complex that even changing something as simple as an intake can quickly lead to a Check engine light. And if you dont have a scan tool, all you can conclude is “hmmm something doesnt work, dont know what it is, but I am going to have to go back to stock.” Now that is the correct action, going back to the previous configuration. But to be honest, you might as well just blind fold yourself the next time your under the hood. You have to have a scan tool so that you can gauge the severity of your issues. It could be that you triggered a soft code and its nothing serious. Maybe you want to clear those codes from your memory before you go into the dealership. What do i mean by that last one? Well, soft codes / pending codes, may still exist in memory even if the CEL disappears. When you go to the dealership they can still recover that information and the freeze frame that is associated to it. So that 7000RPM road test that you did with your buddies might not look good on you.
All that said, the one thing i like about the company that makes this tool, is that they are always making refinements to the software. Last month they just released 7.3 with alot of enhancements. I recently have been conducting some testing on my cars ECU / Fuel economy and this tool has been perfect. I logged a few readings to give you guys an idea of how useful this is.
http://www.autoenginuity.com/dloads/scantool_install.zip is the software. Once you install that you can download my quick capture of data. I think i drive from a friends house in the east end all the way home to the west side. 30 minutes plus of data. right click and save this excel file here falcon-save
Enjoy
