Xenon Depot 6000k Volt and 3000k Xtreme HID kits back to back - Nikon photos

The number one thing I have been having trouble with when it comes to these HIDs is trying to take a picture of them so they truely reflect what they look like to the human eye.  Everytime I have attempted to use this wonderful Nikon D60 the photos come out looking worse then my 2 megapixel camera phone.  I admit I suck using SLRs i am still a rookie and just recently learned the basics of how to use the manual features.

So instead of attempt to use what I learned I switched it back to Auto mod but changed what I was focusing on. (The ground)… What does that mean?  well at a car club meet today I got to meet with local guys and compare our HID kits.  A web designer friend of mine Orlando just recently aquired the VOLT kit.  And like me… he struggled for minutes… possibly house trying to get the HID kit bulbs into the housing.  There is just something about the lancer 9006 headlight that just makes it impossible to get the bulb in perfectly…  if you take a look at the pics of the Volt 6000k kit you will notice the beam on the driver side projectign downward.  Dont worry Orlando I still cant do it right… I have Others install my HID kit :) Anyways…  it doesnt really throw off what I am trying to do in the photos because the real focus is the light projected onto the ground.  With the focus there the light can be captured much much better.  But still not perfect.  I will explain why after I show you guys these 4 images from that capture.

All the photos pretty much explain themselves..

Now after all that.. if your like me then you will go crazy over that bright 3000k light.  The 6000k volt kit is great too.. but I dont know, maybe I am obessed with yellow light.. but I think its definately the next street trend.

But let me get to the cool part that isnt reflected here in the pictures…  There is a great effect that these yellow bulbs have that you just cant replicate with Halogen yellow coated bulbs.   With those halogen bulbs… the type i use to use right up till now.. were basically a coated bulbs… Now with this HID kit its all different, it uses much more advance means to achieve yellow light…. Gases…bulb capsule… etc…  Its something you just have to see for yourself.  When you stand up close to the front of the car, maybe off to the side if you actually stare at the kit (from the side or you will go blind)  you will see that the color of the bulb in the core and immediately around it is glowing a hot hot white, almost 6000k color.  You get some hints of yellow in the color but its not so intense.  for anyone looking to keep a low profile, these wont draw as much attention from the authorities because it just doesnt look like anything hard on the eyes.

What do i mean… I snapped some pics and here is what I came up with.  Hopefully it explains what it is i see.  I think they come pretty close.

I am hoping to do one more photoshoot and by next week I should get my new camera arriving in the mail.

And for all those who are asking… Are those even legal?  In the United States… that will vary from state to state.  But here where I live in Ontario Canada… Our law dictates that a car must have White or Amber Headlamps. and since these headlights fall within the realm of Amber. It means they are completely legal :)
